Carrer Argenteria

The guild of the ‘Argenters’, artisans of precious metals, dates back to the 15th century and was located in the area around this street. Jews and Muslims were prohibited from participating in this activity, whose apprenticeship lasted 6 years. The concentration of merchants trading in precious metals made this street one of the most luxurious in the city, proof of which can still be seen today in the fact that it is much wider than the alleyways found in the rest of the Born. Incidentally, the patron saint of the guild was Saint Eligius, French bishop and goldsmith by trade.
